Registration 101

Get organized

Once you've received an offer of admission, there are a number of things you should do as soon as possible to set you up for success and prepare you to register for courses. You can also download a copy of the Registration 101 workbook for a printable guide through the steps below.

1. Pay your acceptance deposit

You must submit your acceptance deposit before you will be able to register for a Netlink ID, sign up for classes or receive a housing assignment. This deposit is non-refundable, but will be credited towards your tuition. See the Accounting Services website for more information and payment details.

2. Set up a NetLink account

3. Review the first year requirements for your program

Not sure what courses you should be taking in first year? Review the First Year Program Guide to see the recommended courses for most of the programs offered at UVic . For more information on how your first year courses fit with the overall requirements for your degree, consult the University Calendar entries for your faculty and program or speak with an adviser.

4. Look up your courses

Take a look through the course registration section of My Page or the UVic timetable to see when the courses you'd like to take will be offered. Don't forget to include lab and tutorial sections for the courses that require them.

5. Explore the course registration system

You should take the time to explore the course registration system ahead of your assigned registration date. If you're confused by any of the steps you can check out our tutorials or get in touch with the Registration Helpline.

6. Register for classes on your assigned date and time

The university will notify you by email of the date and time after which you can register for courses in winter (September-April) or summer (May-August) sessions.

Register for classes on your assigned date and time. You should register as soon as you are eligible as many popular courses fill up quickly. If you have difficulty registering you can check out our tutorials or contact the Registration Helpline with your questions.
