Trail Route Ratings:

Easy: Trails are flat and moderately level. Suitable for families and children.

Medium: Trail may be hilly in some areas and slightly more strenuous with some uneven sections. Good shoes are required.

Hard: May not be suitable for running. Includes steep and hilly sections with uneven terrain, and may be slippery in wet conditions. Suitable for experienced hikers.

 

Thetis Lake Regional Park

Upper and Lower Thetis Lake Trailsthetis

Thetis Lake Regional park is an outdoor mecca in both the summer and winter. This park offers a variety of trails great for walking and hiking, although some sections can be a bit steep. The best time for running this trail is during the fall and winter; Thetis Lake can be extremely busy during the summer and it can be tough to find parking.

How to get there Follow the Trans-Canada Highway from Victoria, and take the Colwood exit. Follow the Old Island Highway. Turn right on Six Mile Road, which leads to the park entrance.
What to bring Running/walking shoes, bathing suit and towel in the summer.
Parking Yes - Parking is free at Thetis Lake Regional Park from October to April. Pay parking is in effect from May 1 to September 30.
Washroom facilities Yes – at the main beach.
Wheelchair access Yes – at the main beach only.

Other info

If you only wish to go around one section, take the Trillium Trail (at the half-way point) to get back to the main beach and parking lot.
