Triple immunostaining reveals molecular heterogeneity of retinal bipolar cells. Retinal section immunostained for calcium binding protein 5 (CaBP5) – green; metabotropic glutamate receptor 6: nuclear localized beta-galactosidase – red; Chx10 -blue. Overlapping and non-overlapping staining patterns of these three markers gives rise to several molecularly distinct cell types that can be distinguished by their different colors.
