Lauren Henson

lhI am a PhD student in the applied conservation science laboratory. I am an aspiring molecular biologist passionate about integrating traditionally laboratory and field based science and applying molecular techniques to the ecological questions of large carnivore conservation.I believe that good science is community driven, conducted and motivated.

My PhD will focus on utilizing genetic and genomic techniques to elucidate the evolutionary, geographic and resource factors driving grizzly and black bear population structure along the interior to coastal ecotone of British Columbia.I am grateful to be supported in this work by a MITACS accelerate internship in partnership with Raincoast Conservation Foundation. My work is also in partnership with Kitasoo, Xai’Xais and Gitga’at nations, with field work conducted in their territories.
