On June 11, 2007, the Unit, together with REACH, hosted the forum, Innovative Approaches to Assessment in ECCE: The Use of Learning Stories in New Zealand. This event, funded through the Investigating Quality project, engaged participants in discussions on how Canada could move forward with meaningful, community-informed policies and practices that support quality early learning and child care. Special guests included Dr. Margaret Carr and Ms. Wendy Lee, who discussed the use of learning stories, an innovative approach to assessment in ECCE currently employed in New Zealand.
